SFI-Stokes Professor of Solar Energy Engineering, School of Chemical & Bioprocess Engineering, College of Engineering & Architecture, University College Dublin, Dublin. He is currently the Vice-Principal Internationalisation for UCD College of Engineering & Architecture. He is a member of CESAER's 'Committee on Education' and the co-chair of CESAER's 'Taskforce on Internationalisation'.
He teaches Renewable Energy related Chemical and Physical Processes, Applied Chemistry for Chemical Engineers and Micro- and Nano- materials science applications. His research interests include solar energy conversion and storage, fuel cells, artificial photosynthesis, solar fuels, heterogeneous catalysis, petroleum chemistry, hydrogen economy and renewable energy topics in general. He has several patents and over 100 publications to his credit. At an early stage of his career itself, he had worked in petrochemicals industry with a team responsible for the successful scale up of a laboratory scale invention to large commercial production plants. One of his inventions is used by ESA in the space station for life support. Before joining UCD, he was with EPFL, Lausanne.
