Wil Schilders obtained his MSc in mathematics from Radboud University, Netherlands, in 1978, and the PhD from Trinity College Dublin in 1980. He worked at Philips Research Laboratories from 1980 till 2006, in the Mathematical Software Group and the Applied Mathematics Group, concentrating on semiconductor device and electronic circuit simulation. From 2006-2010 he headed the Mathematics group at NXP Semiconductors. Since 1999-2010, he was a part-time professor at TU Eindhoven. From 2010, he is professor of scientific computing for industry at TU Eindhoven, as well as the executive director of the Dutch national platform for mathematics. Currently, he is the chair of the Research and Innovation committee within the European Consortium for Mathematics in Industry (ECMI), and president of the European Service Network of Mathematics for Industry and Innovation (EU-MATHS-IN).
