Yoran Beldengrün (27) is a Swiss PhD Student in Nanomedicine, working in Barcelona at the Institute for Advanced Chemistry of Catalonia (CSIC). From Sep 2018 on, after his PhD, he will work on the potential of the EU Science Diplomacy for the Israeli-Palestinian Peace Process; as part of the Mercator Fellowship on International Affairs.
Yoran is the Founding President of Scientists Dating Forum (SciDF), a grass-roots organisation which aims at getting scientists engaged at the interface between science and politics, society and economics. SciDF organises round table discussions and debates in bars, trainings at science institutes and social activities for scientists. During the regional elections in Catalonia in 2017, SciDF launched a campaign asking the political parties their position on 10 science-related topics. Moreover, Yoran co-lead the organisation of the March for Science Barcelona.
In recent years he acted as science communicator, in form of shows as ventriloquist in Science Slams, school visits as Clown or other formats.
In 2014 he completed an internship at UNESCO in the department of Science Policy.
Yoran has a Msc. Degree in Biomedical Engineering and a Bachelor in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the ETH Zürich. For research stays he spent some months in Paris and Nancy.
