Sir Peter Gluckman is chair of the International Network of Government Science Advice (INGSA), which operates under the aegis of the international Science Council and is the major international organization that bridges the science-policy interface. He also chairs the Foreign Ministries Science and Technology Advisors Network (FMSTAN). He was the first Chief Science Advisor to the Prime Minister of New Zealand, from 2009 to 2018. He continues as science envoy and advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. In 2016 he received the AAAS award in Science Diplomacy. Sir Peter trained as a pediatrician and biomedical scientist and holds a Distinguished University Professorship at the Liggins Institute of the University of Auckland and will head the Centre of Science in Policy, Diplomacy and Society now being established in the University. He has published over 700 scientific papers , technical and popular science books in the areas of development physiology, growth and development, evolutionary medicine. He has received the highest scientific and civilian (Order of New Zealand) honours in NZ and numerous international scientific awards. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of London, a member of the National Academy of Medicine (USA).
