Alessandra (Sandra) Bendiscioli is currently a Science Policy Officer at EMBO. Her research interests include policy implications in areas such as biotechnology, research integrity, scientific publishing and gender issues in science, and she has co-authored a number of related reports aimed at a variety of stakeholders. A focus of her work is currently research integrity and particular the systemic factors and policies that influence how researchers carry out their work. She is responsible for the development and delivery of in-person workshops in responsible conduct of research for postdoctoral fellows and early career researchers at institutes where EMBO Members are active researchers www.embo.org/science-policy/research-integrity/research-integrity-workshop.
Sandra holds a masters’ degree in Foreign Languages and Linguistics from the University of Pavia in Italy. After a period of research in applied linguistics at the University of Heidelberg in Germany, in 2001 she joined the EMBO Science and Society Programme, where she was responsible for the organization of public conferences, workshops and other events to promote public understanding of science and foster discussions on the ethical aspects of scientific research. She joined the EMBO Science Policy Programme in 2011.
